Social safety and our Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct
At komm schon Alter, we strive to organize events where everyone feels welcome, safe, and valued. Our shared love for music, dancing, and art brings us together, and we do everything we can to create an environment where respect and inclusivity are paramount. Harassment, discrimination, or any other harmful behavior has no place here.
This Code of Conduct applies to everyone—attendees, crew, volunteers, and anyone interacting with us online. By participating in a komm schon Alter event, you agree to uphold these principles and help prevent bullying, harassment, and racism. Together, we ensure that everyone can be themselves and enjoy the festival. There will be a Social Safety Team at the festival at the Social Safety Hub, situated next to the First Aid post.
Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in measures ranging from a warning to removal from the event or a ban from future events.
Let’s create a safe, respectful, and unforgettable experience together!

Zero Tolerance for Harassment
We do not tolerate any form of harassment or threats, whether at the festival or on our online platforms. This includes behavior directed at someone’s:
- Race or ethnicity
- National origin
- Gender identity or expression
- Sexual orientation
- Age
- Disability (visible or invisible)
- Religion
- Citizenship status
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Offensive or hurtful comments

- Unwanted sexual attention
- Taking unwanted photos or videos
- Bullying or stalking
What can you do if you witness this?
- Address the person directly if it feels safe

Consent is Always Essential
Respect and consent are our top priorities. Respect others’ boundaries and communicate clearly.
Consent must always be explicit: an enthusiastic yes means yes. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, even in the middle of a conversation or dance. If someone is unsure or does not respond, this means no consent.
Accessibility and Inclusion
We want our festival to be accessible to everyone. This means:
- Wheelchair-accessible facilities
- Low-stimulus areas (located next to the First Aid station)
- Comprehensive information about available facilities and tailored assistance where possible
Do you need additional support? Let us know before the event or ask a crew member for help during the festival.
Support for Victims and Those Affected
We are always available for those who feel unsafe. What happens when you report an incident?
- Our team listens without judgment and provides appropriate care and support, including for those affected
- We take every report seriously and ensure appropriate action
- You can report anonymously if you prefer
Enjoy Responsibly
A festival is a place to relax and have fun, but we ask you to consume alcohol and other substances responsibly. Do you or someone around you need help? Our crew is here for you. Also, remember to protect your hearing and listen to your body when it needs rest.
Respect for the Environment
Help us keep the festival clean and green! Use waste stations, do not leave trash behind, and contribute to a more sustainable experience. Please also return all deposit items to the bar or another return point.
Collective Responsibility
We all contribute to a safe festival experience. Have you experienced or witnessed something concerning?
- Speak to a crew member for assistance
- Ask for our Social Safety Team or the location of the Social Safety Hub, which is trained to support you confidentially.
- Trust that our crew will do everything possible to de-escalate threatening situations
The Social Safety Hub
The Social Safety Hub is dedicated to your mental and emotional well-being and is located next to the low-stimulus area and First Aid station. Here you can:
- Seek support if you feel physically or mentally unwell or unsafe
- Medical cases should go directly to First Aid
- Report incidents, including anonymously
- Talk to our trained team about your concerns
With these guidelines, we can ensure a festival where everyone feels welcome and safe. Let’s enjoy, dance, and take care of each other!

komm schon Alter - Das Mini Festival
Dear Alters,
As the heat of the season slowly begins to soften and the memories of Das Festival still sparkle behind your eyelids, I've decided that one more chapter must be written this summer—one that takes place in an intimate corner of Amsterdam where the music is just as deep, but the crowd is even closer.
Das Mini Festival will bloom on August 23rd in Der Hintergarten.
Tickets are now available via my ticketshop 🌻
NUR LIEBE.

Das Festival - Sustainability
Energy
Organising a festival is like building a small village - me and my team take the lush green hills of de Tuinen van West and turn them into a big mature dancing get-together. But turntables, food trucks and lasers all need power - so how do we make this Alter village a green village?
Since 2019 Das Festival runs entirely on renewable energy. Partly supplied by batteries of our partner Green Power Solutions that are charged by wind energy, and partly by using the local power grid. In Amsterdam the local power grid receives its energy from renewable sources. So you won’t find stinky machines running on fossil fuels at Das Festival!
Food
As you know for sure, food production has an enormous impact on the environment. In order to mitigate these effects, I’ve implemented these three measures into Das Festival:
- No more meat! Eating a beef burger at a festival is so 2013! It’s no secret that eating animals is not only cruel, but also better for our planet. That’s why in 2019, I’ve switched to an entirely vegetarian food lineup. Let me blow you away with many veggie inspired dishes - you won’t be missing that beef burger!
- Eat local! For this year's edition of Das Festival, I’m working with a selection of caterers that are located close to de Tuinen van West and work with locally sourced produce. This reduces the carbon footprint and long supply lines, and we all contribute to the local entrepreneurial spirit!
- In order to better asses the impact of the various dishes served by our catering partners, we're collaborating with Klimato. With this tool caterers can add their various dishes and calculate the impact of their meals based on the life cycle analyses of each ingredient used.
Cups, bottles and cans
Do you miss that feeling of dancing on an ever expanding sea of plastic cups on the dance floor…? Well, I don’t!
In order to keep the beautiful green oases of de Tuinen van West pristine, I've implemented a return system on hardcups, bottles and cans. You pay €1,50 extra when buying your first drink. When getting your next drink, you can hand in your old cup, bottle or can to avoid this extra cost. This way we can recycle properly and keep the dance floor clean.
Resource management
Recycle, reuse! Enjoying resources responsibly is becoming a vital aspect of life. That’s why my team and I created a waste collection system with which we reduce the amount of residual waste by 60%. This way we save valuable resources that will be send for recycling instead of being burned for energy.
The waste flows need to be clean, otherwise the recycle machines won’t be able to process it properly. That’s why you as visitor can really help me and the team out by deposing your waste in the correct bins. To keep it clear and simple I created 2 types of waste bins:
- Compostables (left over food, cutlery, plates)
- Residual waste (everything else)
The various different type of resources collected will be recycled by various partners in close proximity of the festival. All the recycled plastic will for example be used to make new bottles or food packaging. Closing to loop!
Planting trees
You might have seen it in my ticket shop, or you might’ve already bought a tree ticket (yay for you). Let me explain what this ‘plant a tree’ donation means!
The movement of goods and people still is the biggest contributor to the carbon footprint of Das Festival. That’s why I’ve partnered with Trees for All to start growing our own forests both in the Netherlands and the tropics. With these forests we can start offsetting our collective emissions.
You can donate €2 when purchasing a ticket. I’ll contribute 50 cents on top of it, so we start saving collectively. The goal is a new forest of 2.000 trees strong!
Intro
I want you to be able to experience an amazing day whilst at the same time making sure we enjoy our planet responsibly. That’s why me and the team are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and work towards a circular festival that drastically reduces the waste of valuable resources.
Our focus is on the following themes:
- Energy
- Food
- Resource Management
- Recyclable cups, cans and bottles
- Planting trees
