Social safety and our Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct
At komm schon Alter, we strive to organize events where everyone feels welcome, safe, and valued. Our shared love for music, dancing, and art brings us together, and we do everything we can to create an environment where respect and inclusivity are paramount. Harassment, discrimination, or any other harmful behavior has no place here.
This Code of Conduct applies to everyone—attendees, crew, volunteers, and anyone interacting with us online. By participating in a komm schon Alter event, you agree to uphold these principles and help prevent bullying, harassment, and racism. Together, we ensure that everyone can be themselves and enjoy the festival. There will be a Social Safety Team at the festival at the Social Safety Hub, situated next to the First Aid post.
Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in measures ranging from a warning to removal from the event or a ban from future events.
Let’s create a safe, respectful, and unforgettable experience together!

- Comprehensive information about available facilities and tailored assistance where possible
Do you need additional support? Let us know before the event or ask a crew member for help during the festival.

- Our team listens without judgment and provides appropriate care and support, including for those affected
- We take every report seriously and ensure appropriate action

Enjoy Responsibly
A festival is a place to relax and have fun, but we ask you to consume alcohol and other substances responsibly. Do you or someone around you need help? Our crew is here for you. Also, remember to protect your hearing and listen to your body when it needs rest.
Respect for the Environment
Help us keep the festival clean and green! Use waste stations, do not leave trash behind, and contribute to a more sustainable experience. Please also return all deposit items to the bar or another return point.
Collective Responsibility
We all contribute to a safe festival experience. Have you experienced or witnessed something concerning?
- Speak to a crew member for assistance
- Ask for our Social Safety Team or the location of the Social Safety Hub, which is trained to support you confidentially.
- Trust that our crew will do everything possible to de-escalate threatening situations

Dear Alters,

Das Mini Festival will bloom on August 23rd in Der Hintergarten.

How to travel to Das Festival
The roads that lead to Das Festival are busy. To prevent traffic jams and delays, it’s crucial to think about how you travel to Das Festival. We also value keeping the area livable for the locals a lot. We are a guest at the Tuinen van West and it’s pertinent that we behave as such, with respect and good manners as Alters know how to do! To be transparent with you, the future of our festival site is also up for review at the end of the year and the impact we all make on the surrounding neighborhoods is a crucial factor. So, please read this information carefully and please, please comply with our instructions!
By bike
The best way to come to Das Festival is by bike! It’s not only the greenest and healthiest option, but you help me a lot by not filling up the roads with motorized vehicles. Depending on where you live, De Tuinen van West are a short and sweet bike ride away. Gather your friends, grab some BVO’s (for the non-Dutchies: beers or drinks for the road) and make a party out of it (just don’t throw your trash by the roadside!). And think about how relaxing and cooling the way back can be after a day of dancing! Navigate to Pieter Moeskopspad 20.
By shuttle bus
If cycling is not an option for you, the next best thing is going by shuttle bus. A return ticket only costs €5, you can buy a ticket in my ticketshop. The buses will depart often near Sloterdijk Station, follow the signs.
By car
There is no parking space directly next to Das Festival or in the surrounding neighborhood. Please don’t be stubborn and try to park there, cars will be checked and turned around. Also bear in mind that we want to keep a good relationship with ours neighbours and following these directions allows us to keep organising Das Festival.
But for those with no other means of transportation, you can park your car at our parkinglot at P20 RAI Amsterdam. It’s a bit further away but there will be free shuttle buses going to and from Das Festival from there. You’ll be at the gates in no time! Parking tickets for this location are available via my ticketshop. Lastly, if you are an Alter with a disability and need to park close to Das Festival, that’s possible! I have a few parking spots at Das Festival reserved just for you. From there it’s 5 minutes to the crew entrance where you and your friends can enter. Just send me an e-mail at info@kommschonalter.de.
Taxi’s can navigate to Tom Schreursweg 8. For Uber use: Bok de Korverweg 4. But please avoid using these services at all costs if you can, or only use them to travel to Amsterdam Sloterdijk and take a shuttle bus from there. This will make a huge difference! Kiss & Ride can navigate to the external parking site at P20 RAI Amsterdam. From there, free shuttle busses will take you to Das Festival.
Accessibility and facilities for Alters with a handicap
All Alters should feel welcome and comfortable at Das Festival. Since last year I’ve been working on making Das Festival more accessible for Alters with a handicap. In the FAQ items below you can find more information about the different facilities available for you. If you miss information or if you have questions or tips, send me an e-mail to accessibility@kommschonalter.de, it’s greatly appreciated.
Entering Das Festival
- If you use a wheelchair to get around, if the crowds at the regular entrance are too overwhelming or if you have another reason, feel free to use the crew entrance as seen on the map (Tom Schreursweg 40) You can enter with your friends/companions. Please note that you will be visited by the security staff.
Transportation to Das Festival
There are different ways to get to Das Festival:
- There are special parking spots reserved for Alters with a disability. From there, it’s just a 5 minute walk or ride to the crew entrance. Please send an email to accessibility@kommschonalter.de and request to buy a parking ticket. Costs are €15.
- You can take the shuttle bus from Sloterdijk Station (follow the signs to get to the shuttle busses), it’s accessible for wheelchair users. From the bus stop it’s a 10 minute walk or ride to the crew entrance.
- If you take a taxi or if someone drops you off, it’s a 10 minute walk or ride to the crew entrance. Let the driver follow the crew signs.
Map & accessibility of the festival grounds
Please see the map of the festival grounds here.
All yellow roads on the map are either asphalt or hard surfaced. Please take note that the rest of the festival grounds surface is grass. So far I’ve always been lucky with little rain before Das Festival, but if I run out of luck this year and the grass is muddy (don’t jinx it), I will create more hard surfaced paths across the grounds.
Also an important piece of information: part of the festival grounds is ascending. The hills aren’t steep, but it may be less accessible for some individuals..
At all the big stages (Altersheim, Tanzbühne & Hammar Hangar) there is a reserved deck or small area, accessible for Alters with disabilities or mobility impairments and their companions. There is no such area at the mini stages or at the Bummelndeck, but the surface of the dance floor of the last stage is all asphalt.
Unfortunately there is one mini stages that are harder or not possible to enter for Alters with mobility impairments. While Club Leider Nicht has an entrance with a ramp, the inside of the tent is small and crowded.
Other facilities (toilets, low-stimulus area & other things)
There are three toilets that are wheelchair-accessible. Check out the map for the exact locations.
There is a low-stimulus area at the first aid post with comfortable seats, plants and if needed noise canceling headphones.
At the first aid post there also is a secluded changing and cleaning space, which you can also use to change your stoma if needed (this is not possible in the wheelchair-accessible toilets). There is running water, electricity, a mobile hoist and a fridge to store medicine.
Furthermore, there are lockers at a comfortable height reserved for Alters who use wheelchairs. You can buy your locker at the locker desk.
Das Festival - Sustainability
Energy
Organising a festival is like building a small village - me and my team take the lush green hills of de Tuinen van West and turn them into a big mature dancing get-together. But turntables, food trucks and lasers all need power - so how do we make this Alter village a green village?
Since 2019 Das Festival runs entirely on renewable energy. Partly supplied by batteries of our partner Green Power Solutions that are charged by wind energy, and partly by using the local power grid. In Amsterdam the local power grid receives its energy from renewable sources. So you won’t find stinky machines running on fossil fuels at Das Festival!
Food
As you know for sure, food production has an enormous impact on the environment. In order to mitigate these effects, I’ve implemented these three measures into Das Festival:
- No more meat! Eating a beef burger at a festival is so 2013! It’s no secret that eating animals is not only cruel, but also better for our planet. That’s why in 2019, I’ve switched to an entirely vegetarian food lineup. Let me blow you away with many veggie inspired dishes - you won’t be missing that beef burger!
- Eat local! For this year's edition of Das Festival, I’m working with a selection of caterers that are located close to de Tuinen van West and work with locally sourced produce. This reduces the carbon footprint and long supply lines, and we all contribute to the local entrepreneurial spirit!
- In order to better asses the impact of the various dishes served by our catering partners, we're collaborating with Klimato. With this tool caterers can add their various dishes and calculate the impact of their meals based on the life cycle analyses of each ingredient used.
Cups, bottles and cans
Do you miss that feeling of dancing on an ever expanding sea of plastic cups on the dance floor…? Well, I don’t!
In order to keep the beautiful green oases of de Tuinen van West pristine, I've implemented a return system on hardcups, bottles and cans. You pay €1,50 extra when buying your first drink. When getting your next drink, you can hand in your old cup, bottle or can to avoid this extra cost. This way we can recycle properly and keep the dance floor clean.
Resource management
Recycle, reuse! Enjoying resources responsibly is becoming a vital aspect of life. That’s why my team and I created a waste collection system with which we reduce the amount of residual waste by 60%. This way we save valuable resources that will be send for recycling instead of being burned for energy.
The waste flows need to be clean, otherwise the recycle machines won’t be able to process it properly. That’s why you as visitor can really help me and the team out by deposing your waste in the correct bins. To keep it clear and simple I created 2 types of waste bins:
- Compostables (left over food, cutlery, plates)
- Residual waste (everything else)
The various different type of resources collected will be recycled by various partners in close proximity of the festival. All the recycled plastic will for example be used to make new bottles or food packaging. Closing to loop!
Planting trees
You might have seen it in my ticket shop, or you might’ve already bought a tree ticket (yay for you). Let me explain what this ‘plant a tree’ donation means!
The movement of goods and people still is the biggest contributor to the carbon footprint of Das Festival. That’s why I’ve partnered with Trees for All to start growing our own forests both in the Netherlands and the tropics. With these forests we can start offsetting our collective emissions.
You can donate €2 when purchasing a ticket. I’ll contribute 50 cents on top of it, so we start saving collectively. The goal is a new forest of 2.000 trees strong!
